About the cemetery
Dalton Cemetery opened in 1862 on a 12-acre site. The cemetery was originally set out with Church of England, Roman Catholic, and Non-Conformist sections. Although these sections are now used for reopened graves, all new graves take place in a general section for all denominations. There is also a section for cremated remains.
There are 2 chapels within the cemetery: one for Church of England and one for Non-Conformist. Although neither chapel is used for services the North chapel is leased to the Greek Orthodox community.
Opening hours
The cemetery grounds are open at the following hours every day:
1st April to 31st October
8am to 8.30pm.

Parking facilities
There are car parks spaces available adjacent to the old chapel at the top of the main drive. Visitors attending graves may park on the driveways within the cemetery. We ask visitors not to park or ride across the grass verges.
Layout
Due to the size of the site, if visitors are looking for a specific grave, we recommend contacting bereavement services who will provide assistance in locating the grave on your behalf.
We advise you do this as soon as possible as we regret, we cannot always answer queries immediately.
