About the cemetery
Appleby cemetery was opened in 1910 on a site extending to approximately 2 hectares.
Of note is the Grade II listed First World War Memorial Obelisk, which was erected in 1921. This stands in a prominent position within the centre of the cemetery and was constructed from local limestone.
The cemetery is non-denominational.
Opening hours
The on-site chapel is now closed and is a privately owned. The cemetery is open from dawn until dusk, 365 days per year.
Parking facilities
No car park exists within the cemetery itself. Visitors and funeral attendees are requested to park on the roadside leaving space for funeral corteges to pass, if necessary.
