Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)

Schemes administered by Ofgem to offer different types of energy efficiency upgrades.

Information about both schemes is available through Ofgem who administer the scheme on behalf of the government.

It is important to note that ECO and GBIS is not a grant scheme. Personal eligibility for ECO does not necessarily mean that an energy supplier or installer will be able to fund energy efficiency measures in your home. Each installer may offer different types of energy efficiency upgrades and amounts of funding.

Any offer of energy efficiency upgrades will depend on:

  • a property assessment carried out by the installer
  • the starting EPC rating and potential uplift
  • whether suppliers have achieved their obligated targets

All applications should be made through an obligated energy supplier listed on the Ofgem website. You can apply even if your energy supplier is not listed.

The ‘Flex’ part of both schemes allows us to widen the personal eligibility criteria. For full ECO flex eligibility criteria please refer to the Statement of Intent.

If your application meets one of these criteria, your application will be forwarded to us to verify.
