Westmorland and Furness Highways will resurface 500m of Borrans Road this week as a part of their wider investment across the council area.
Due to the scale of the works, the road will be closed from Monday 11 September for up to six nights. To minimise disruption for the local community, business and road users, the team will work between the hours of 6.30pm and 1am to efficiently and safely deliver the resurfacing project.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists as the pavements will be largely unaffected. For motor vehicles, an easy to follow signed diversion route is in place via the A591 and Wansfell Road.
The council encourage residents and tourists to continue supporting local businesses as their opening hours will remain unchanged.
Cllr Peter Thornton, Westmorland and Furness Cabinet Member for Highways and Assets said: “This scheme on Borrans Road in Ambleside is a part of our wider investment in highways resurfacing across the Westmorland and Furness area.
“Smooth, well-maintained roads are the foundation of a thriving community, and this funding reflects our commitment to creating safe highways for all residents and visitors.
“We thank the public for their patience as we complete this work and would like to emphasise that local businesses will remain open throughout the duration of the works.”
Resurfacing works are weather dependent and as a result, our intended work programme may be affected. For updates, follow the Westmorland and Furness X (formerly Twitter) page.
