People across the country are encouraged to help celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort by taking part in The Big Help Out on Monday 8 May.
The Coronation of Their Majesties is taking place on Saturday 6 May, with a series of special events running until Monday 8 May, which has been declared a bank holiday.
As part of the celebrations, The Big Help Out is taking place on Monday 8 May, with thousands of organisations across the country getting together to give people the chance to help out in their own local communities.
Members of the public are encouraged to take part in volunteering on Monday 8 May and download The Big Help Out app from which people can search by their postcode, the type of activity they want to do and the organisation they would like to volunteer with.
If you have thought about volunteering, then this is the perfect opportunity to get involved. You can volunteer on your own, or part of an organisation or business, for an hour or a full day. Download The Big Help Out app or visit The Big Help Out website to find out more.
Mrs Claire Hensman, Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, said:
“Volunteers are vital in making Cumbria the great place that it is. Across the county, unsung heroes generously give their time and energy to benefit others and help provide services that make a real difference to the lives of thousands.
“The Big Help Out is a wonderful opportunity for people to learn new skills, meet new people and make a real difference.
“The event will not only mark an event of national significance but highlight the important role volunteering plays in our communities and hopefully inspire a new generation of volunteers.”
