An innovative event to recruit new Support Workers is set to be hosted in Kendal next week.
The recruitment event will provide potential support workers the opportunity to have an informal interview on the day if they wish or just find out more about being a support worker if they’re still unsure.
The event, hosted by Westmorland and Furness Council, will be held at Kendal Library on Saturday 15 July, from 10am to 1pm.
Anyone interested in attending the event, can apply to be interviewed on the day or just register their attendance if they’d like to find out more. Applications will close on Monday 10 July 2023.
The Council is looking for caring and compassionate people for a range of support worker roles available within the following services in and around Kendal:
- Residential Care
- Support at Home - Reablement & Domiciliary
- Supported Living - Disability & Mental Health
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about these services and roles from care teams and ask everything they would like to know prior to the personal interview.
There are roles ranging from 0 – 36 hours per week. Typically, the services run 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24-hours. This will include weekends and Bank Holidays. Standard shifts and availability can be discussed at the event.
Cllr Patricia Bell, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:
“Becoming a Support Worker is a chance to have an incredibly rewarding career with excellent development opportunities. Our very own Assistant Director of Care Services, Nikkie Phipps, began her career as a Support Worker, and is now the head of one of the largest departments in our organisation – and she isn’t the only member of our senior team who started out this way.
“The Support Worker Recruitment Day offers an excellent opportunity for people who are passionate about helping others to know more about the amazing work our teams do. They are truly committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need by providing exceptional support.
“You'll have the chance to explore different care roles within our services. These are incredibly rewarding careers where our efforts can change lives for the better. By joining us, you'll become a valuable part of that mission.”
