Westmorland and Furness Council’s Locality Board for Eden has approved a series of grants to support a range of initiatives across the area.
At a recent meeting of the Board (16 October), members backed the recommendations of the Children & Young People Working Group, providing a much-needed financial boost to community-based projects aimed at benefiting young people.
These included an award of £4,000 to 32 Huntley Avenue Children’s Home to support Christmas activities for the young people who reside there; and £4,300 to CHOFHS Youth Group to contribute towards a new roof, solar panels and energy efficient infrared heating.
Members also supported grants recently awarded by the Community Fund Grants Panel to support projects and initiatives across Eden.
These included an award of £5,000 to Appleby Football & Squash Clubhouse renovation project; £1,525.47 to Edenhall & Langwathby Cricket Club towards equipment; £4,848 to Mobius Loop CIC to deliver a film making project alongside 4Eden; £5,000 to Newbiggin-on-Lune Public Hall for a replacement boiler; £1,300 to North Stainmore Parish Hall towards building refurbishments, improvements and an energy efficiency survey; and £778 to Triple A towards establishing a support network for adults with Autism.
Councillor John Murray, Chair of the Eden Locality Board, said:
“As a Locality Board we feel it is important to use the funding we have available to support and develop our communities across Eden. The projects and initiatives supported by the Children & Young People Working Group and Community Fund Grants Panel demonstrate the range of activities we are able to support and how our funding can have a wide-reaching benefit across Eden.
“I would like to encourage groups across Eden to contact the team to discuss any projects they are working on that may be eligible for funding.”
