Westmorland and Furness Council has unveiled a new online platform designed to support local residents in accessing its apprenticeship opportunities.

The new webpage serves as a one-stop hub for information, guidance and resources related to apprenticeships offered by Westmorland and Furness Council.

It provides insights into the variety of apprenticeship pathways available, helping prospective apprentices and their families make informed decisions about their career journeys.

Key features include:

  • Vacancies: A comprehensive list of apprenticeship opportunities during recruitment windows, spanning diverse industries such as health and social care, highways, project management, business administration and more.
  • Guidance and resources: Access to a variety of resources, including information on apprenticeship benefits, interview preparation tips and advice on choosing the right apprenticeship programme.
  • Success stories: Inspiring testimonials and case studies from successful apprentices within the council, showcasing the positive impact of apprenticeships on their careers.

This coincides with the launch of a new Instagram page – @wandf.apprenticeships. Managed by the council's apprenticeship team alongside current apprentices, the page will offer authentic insights and first-hand experiences. Followers can expect regular updates on opportunities, success stories, tips for prospective apprentices and a behind-the-scenes look at life as an apprentice.

The council’s next recruitment window for apprentices is scheduled to open in early 2025.

Councillor Janet Battye, Westmorland and Furness Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Member Development, said:

"We are excited to launch these new digital platforms, which will help people to discover the wide range of apprenticeship opportunities available through the council. Just last month, we were delighted to welcome 20 new apprentices into a variety of roles.

"By providing clear and engaging information, we aim to encourage more people to consider apprenticeships as a pathway to developing new skills, starting rewarding careers, and unlocking their potential."
