Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council are running a free online information session this week to showcase their apprenticeship opportunities.
Hosted by their award-winning Apprenticeship Team on Thursday (21 March) at 5pm, the ‘more than you think’ event will highlight the huge variety of vacancies on offer, from health and social care to business administration, as well as more than 30 highways apprenticeships.
There’s no need to book a place, just head to cumbriaapprenticeships.org.uk for more information on how to join the online session.
Aimed at young people, parents and carers who are interested in finding out more about the options available, the event will provide help and advice to those starting a new career and considering the apprenticeship route.
With opportunities from Level 2 to Level 4, successful applicants will achieve a nationally recognised qualification whilst gaining valuable industry-specific work experience and earning a wage.
The application window is open now and closes at midnight on Sunday (24 March), with applications for all roles to be submitted online via cumbriaapprenticeships.org.uk.
Vacancies include:
- Highways Maintenance, Civil Engineering and Electrician Apprenticeships
- Business Admin, Customer Service and Assistant Accountant Apprenticeships
- Health and Social Care Apprenticeships (Adults and Children)
- Project Management Higher Apprenticeships
Apprentices will be supported to get involved in a number of projects and development opportunities, including volunteering. Last month, apprentices from both councils’ highways teams spent time volunteering at the Penrith Girl Guides hut with Gen2 for National Apprenticeship Week. The apprentices supported with routine maintenance around the building and fixing paths.
Councillor Sue Sanderson, Westmorland and Furness Council’s Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education and Skills, said:
“We are looking to enrol dozens of new apprentices in roles such as Highways Maintenance, Health and Social Care, Customer Service, Accountancy, Business Administration and more. As well as excellent work experience with service professionals, the scheme also provides learners with a nationally recognised qualification and additional training and support.
“If you or someone you know is interested, apply before midnight on 24 March or come along to our online information session on Thursday to find out more about the different roles and fantastic opportunities available through the apprenticeship scheme.”
