Councillor Virginia Taylor, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Communities and Localities, said:
“This looks set to be an ace opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to have a bit of fun and enjoy trying something new, whether tennis, bowls or golf.
“Healthy and happy lives are a priority for the council and sports provision, from clubs through to facilities, play a huge role in community life. These newly refurbished tennis courts are a great asset to the town and while widely used by the community, I hope this open day may encourage even more people to join in and make use of them.
“If you can’t make the open day, I encourage you to take a look at the Free Park Tennis sessions offered by Penrith Tennis Club which ensure everyone has the opportunity to play. They run each Saturday at 10am and equipment is provided so anyone can come along to give tennis a try, or get tips for improving their game.”
