Westmorland and Furness Council and Foster with Us hosted a Family Fun Day at Brathay, Ambleside on Saturday 31 August, as part of ‘Love our Children’ week which was a celebration of the talents and creativity of the Cared-for Children of Westmorland and Furness.
The children took part in canoeing on Windermere; climbing, outdoor games, face painting, as well as the Craft Zone where they made Friendship bracelets, ‘superpower’ masks and capes. They enjoyed a well-deserved lunch after all the activities.
Milord Vasic, Director of Children’s Services said: ‘What a fantastic day our cared-for children and their carers had on the shores of Windermere. It was wonderful to see them all enjoying themselves in the outdoors, being creative in the Craft Zone and generally having some end of summer fun.’
Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet member, Education, Inclusion and Skills (Lead Member for Children’s Services) said:
‘Our children had a great time this week exploring the theme of ‘What’s your Superpower?’ which could be anything from helping a neighbour, being creative, something sporty, or simply being that person who smiles and is kind to everyone. It really focused their minds on what they are good at and what makes them special.’
Thanks to Foster With Us who supported the event.
