Council invests over £400,000 in much-loved Barrow Library

Westmorland and Furness Council is investing more than £400,000 in the Grade 2 listed Barrow Library, with new rooflights and roof covering and other repairs and repainting. The library will remain open throughout the works which will begin on 1st October.

Families urged to check Free School Meals eligibility as support expands

We are encouraging families to check whether they are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), following changes to national eligibility rules, which mean that from September 2026 all households receiving Universal Credit can apply, regardless of income. Families must still apply, as eligibility is not awarded automatically.
