Part-Time, Teaching Assistant (SEN)
The post is temporary (see below*) for approx. 17 hours per week term time – required for a mid-January 2024 start.
We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic teaching assistant who can join our dedicated school team. Our ethos puts the child firmly at the centre of everything we do and the decisions we make. Essentially, you will have prior experience of supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and ideally will have used Makaton. Believing and understanding that every child is unique and having high expectations of all children, is absolutely vital for this role.
Primarily, supporting a child with an EHCP in Year 1. This is a demanding but extremely rewarding role. We are looking for a skilled Teaching Assistant with an understanding of SEND and experience working in Early Years and/or Key Stage 1.
The successful person will need to be able to adapt, and prepare teaching resources (under the direction of the class teacher and/or SENCO) to meet the needs of the child’s Educational Health and Care Plan, and teach the next steps through engaging teaching and learning activities as well as adapting materials to support learning and development. The successful candidate will work opposite another member of staff to provided 1:1 support throughout the week. They will also have the support of our experienced, dedicated staff team. They should be able to show initiative and versatility in responding to pupils’ individual needs in a calm and positive manner. A relevant Level 2 qualification is essential.
*Post is temporary and the hours and timetables are reviewed termly as the position is EHCP funded. Initially for two terms (up to 31st August 2024, due to Budget restrictions) with a possibility to extend.
