Headteacher, Permanent, 1.0 FTE

Required for: September 2024

Armathwaite School is a small village primary school serving the lovely communities of Armathwaite and Ainstable in the beautiful Eden valley. We are delighted to offer provision for children aged 3-11 years. Currently we have 80 pupils organised into 3 classes.

We are seeking a new Headteacher who embraces the same values as the whole school, recognising the importance of creating lifelong learners, proficient in the skills and competences for independence in learning.

Our children have a thirst for knowledge and understanding, and our curriculum is at the centre of everything we do at Armathwaite. As Headteacher, you will help children learn how to learn, and provide them with the opportunity to become powerful, confident and independent learners.

With a stable and enthusiastic staff team, and a robust financial position, we have strong foundations from which a new Headteacher can continue to build on the school's strengths and continue the school's high standards.

We shape our curriculum to reflect the ethos, aims, and values of our school.
At Armathwaite, we value having two interdependent parts to our curriculum; the Teacher Directed Curriculum, and Child Initiated Independent Learning.

We place high emphasis on developing creativity in all areas of a broad and rich curriculum. We prioritise independence in learning- the acquisition of life-long learning skills. We respect and value each person's individuality and the contribution they make to our school community.

The right candidate will be ready to work alongside our brilliant children and the fantastic and dedicated staff team to nurture the positive and well embedded aspects of our current approach, while simultaneously leading the school forward with positivity and drive.

The school is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS).

The closing date for applications is Midday on Thursday 11th April 2024.  For further information and to arrange a visit contact Miss Carrie Hill on 01697472296 or email admin@armathwaite.cumbria.sch.uk
