EHCP Lead
SCP 27-32 £35,745 - £40,221 (depending on experience)
Full time: 37 hours per week and year round
Permanent contract
Location: across multiple sites and hybrid working

Due to a period of continued growth, we are looking to recruit enthusiastic, flexible and qualified practitioners to join our growing school team, to work within our multi-site setting. Sandgate is a special school for children and young people between the ages of 3-19 years, currently on two sites based in Kendal, but with a new build school nearing completion.

Our school has a large catchment area and accepts students with severe, profound and complex needs. Our students are diverse in terms of their abilities, interests, strengths and sense of humour and therefore, our staff team have a range of experience. Job Purpose:
To ensure the EHCP process for all Sandgate Students runs to a high standard and effectively while keeping to schedule.

To be the lead officer for a designated number of complex SEND cases including:
1. To manage, facilitate and co-ordinate statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and Short Break assessments for children and young people with SEND at Sandgate School
2. To draft statutory Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for children and young people with special educational needs
3. To facilitate and co-coordinate the statutory annual review process for EHCP’s and surrounding professional meetings where needed
4. To ensure that children and young people have appropriate support, resources and placements in schools or other educational settings, to enable them to achieve positive learning and identified developmental outcomes.
5. To engage in partnership working in order to find ways of meeting the needs of children and young people with SEND in a creative outcome focused way.

DAY TO DAY

Prior to the EHCP Annual Review Meeting
-    Liaise with the admin team relating to the timings of the meeting.
-    Liaise with the class teacher and admin team to ensure all the relevant professionals have been invited to the meeting.
-    Liaise with the class teacher to ensure that all the EHCP targets and IEP have been updated to the expected standard. 
-    Updated targets have been checked with a member of SLT.
-    Where the current needs and supports required for the student do not match the current level of funding the EHCP lead will prepare evidence for ‘Panel’ to uplift student’s SENCAT.

During the EHCP Annual Review Meeting
-    To chair the Annual Review meeting ensuring that the student voice, parents and professionals are all consulted as necessary.
-    Ensure the Local Authority EHCP coordinator is happy with the proceedings and are updating the plan during the meeting.
-    Write up and disseminate any recommendations from the EHCP Annual Review.

Post the EHCP Annual Review Meeting
-    Ensure the paperwork completed and the admin team alerted on the day of the EHCP.
-    Follow up and organise any further meetings that come from actions of the Annual Review such as SALT, TAF, OT appointments.
-    Check any contentious points or concerns with a link member of SLT.

You will:
-    Have a commitment to the agreed whole school Sandgate vision, values and goals.
-    Champion the potential of all children and young people through person centred approaches.
-    Have relevant experience in special educational needs and disability. A qualification in SEND would be an advantage. 
-    Have experience of and confidence when working in partnership with a range of agencies, and SEND services. 
-    Have excellent communication and organisational skills and enjoy being a part of a high achieving team.
-    Have the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work efficiently within a complex and dynamic environment.
-    Competent IT skills, working an electronic case management system with an excellent level of computer skills.
-    Have a passion for working with young people with SEND, and their families, across a diverse age range, currently from 3 to 19 years.
-    Have substantial experience of working for or with educational settings. 
-    Have knowledge of legal frameworks, and a good understanding of Special Educational Needs legislation and how reforms work at a practical level.
-    Be motivated to continue personal and professional development.
-    Must be able to drive as we area multi-site school with potential for further growth across the county.
