EYFS/KS1 Class Teacher, Maternity Cover

Required for: W/C 24th February 2025 – following the Spring Half Term break.

The governors of Brough School are looking to appoint an EYFS/KS1 teacher to join our lovely and thriving village school, to cover a period of maternity leave. The post is in our fabulous Acorns Class, comprising Reception and Year 1 pupils.  Please have a look at our website to get a feel for the school: www.broughschool.org.

Brough Community Primary School is a thriving, successful school with a great staff team.  We are rated ‘Good in all areas’ by Ofsted (2019) and are national leaders in online learning.  Our curriculum offer celebrates our local environment and we are a passionate Eco-School.   We have an outstanding outdoor area as part of our Early Years provision and have recently upgraded the classroom space and resources in Acorns Class.  It is a fabulous place to teach and work!

We would be happy to consider a job-share arrangement for this post.  We would also be keen to support the appointed candidate with transition into the role, with a handover from our current skilled member of the teaching team in Acorns Class.

This is an exciting opportunity for any teacher seeking to work in a progressive, caring school which is at the heart of its community.

The successful candidate will:

  • be an enthusiastic practitioner, keen to take on a mixed Reception/Year 1 class (there are currently 19 pupils)
  • have experience of planning for all subjects within the Early Years/KS1 Curriculum
  • have a passion for the environment – e.g. a Forest Schools qualification
  • be up-to-date with approaches to teaching and keen to take on new challenges in the profession
  • have experience of delivering systematic, synthetic phonics programs (we use Little Wandle)
  • be able to maintain our warm and welcoming environment, to enable all children to reach their full potential

Please indicate your strengths and interests as a candidate, especially on your letter of application. Here at Brough Community Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.  Please contact the school for an application pack on 017683 41284 or email: admin@brough.cumbria.sch.uk

Candidates are encouraged to come and visit the school in advance of application.  Please contact the school office to arrange this.

Closing date for applications is: Thursday 28th November 2024 12 pm.
Interviews will be held on: Wednesday 11th December 2024.

The school reserves the right to withdraw the post at any stage of this process, should its circumstances change.
