As a whole school, and as individuals, we aim high: wanting the very best for all. Everyone in Dowdales School leads by example ensuring that we treat each other as we want to be treated ourselves.
We are a community school with 822 students aged 11-16 years on roll. Situated in the historic town of Dalton in Furness, we enjoy being on the fringe of the Lake District National Park. As an Ofsted rated ‘good’ school, we believe in high expectations, excellent teaching and ambition for every young person.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of MFL to join our well-established and successful department. The department consists of three full time teaching staff supported by language assistants at KS4. We pride ourselves on having gained International School status through all of the work we do in and out of the classroom. Results in the department are strong and students enjoy their lessons. Attainment is regularly above the national average. Languages are a popular option at GCSE with one or two groups running most years in each language. Extra curricular activities are a strength at Dowdales with trips to Germany and France in both Key Stages including a well established partner school exchange. We also offer language clubs at lunchtime.
We are proud to have:
• Extremely high aspirations for all students at Dowdales ensuring that every young person makes excellent progress and performs to the best of their ability
• Students with positive attitudes who enjoy coming to school
• An enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff and governors
We would welcome applications from someone who has:
