An Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) is a legal document that imposes traffic and parking restrictions. It's similar to a Permanent Traffic Order and we use ETRO's to see whether a scheme will work in practice.
An ETRO can be in effect for up to 18 months, which allows us time time to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme.
Anyone can provide feedback on our schemes and we welcome your comments at any point in the process. However, if you wish to make a formal objection to an ETRO, you must do so within the first six months of its implementation.
If we make changes to an ETRO, there will be a six-month objection period from the date the changes were implemented.
Within 18 months of an ETRO going into effect, we have to decide whether the changes should be removed or kept in place. We'll use our formal decision-making process to determine whether to make a scheme permanent.
Current ETRO schemes
We have the following ETRO schemes in place in the Barrow area.
Details of how to make a representation can be found in the documents below. The documents also list the deadline to make a formal objection.
