Search and comment on a planning application

How to check our planning register, or search for archived applications.

Search tools and weekly lists

The council publishes a weekly list of all new applications received and planning decisions made in the area.

To look for a specific application, Eden and South Lakeland residents can use our online mapping tool.

Eden and South Lakeland residents can also search for planning applications by searching the planning register. The register contains all planning applications received by us from 1988

  • for applications between 1988 and 2010 full documentation is not available on the register
  • for applications after 2010 you can see all the documents (except financial or sensitive material) submitted with a planning application

Barrow only keeps records of applications for the past seven years. Residents can visit the Borough of Barrow in Furness Planning Portal to search for applications.

National parks

Large parts of our area are covered by national parks, which have their own planning authorities. If the planning application you are looking for is in a national park, you can find it on the park's websites:

Minerals and waste planning applications
