Warm Spots

A Warm Spot offers a warm, welcoming space for people to visit this winter if they need it. They are run by a range of different organisations including churches, village halls, local councils and libraries.

Penrith Library (warm spot)

Warm welcome from library staff onsite, browsing and borrowing of stock, free requests service, loanable storysacks and dementia bags, Free public Wi-Fi, public PCs (2 hours free use per day for library members), printing.
Activities and events for all ages, hearing aid batteries, disabled access, toilet facilities, space to study, read, or just chat with other customers.
Water dispenser. Warm refreshments not available but two local cafes and bakery within 50 yards of the library entrance.

Restore Penrith

Open as a drop in 10-4pm Monday to Saturday with refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits available and Thursday lunch times, when there is also soup and a roll available free of charge.

South Lakes Foyer

Offering tea, coffee, soup, hot chocolate and biscuits. Plus free wi-fi.

St James Church

Hot drinks and snacks. Pop along for a natter or to read or knit. All welcome

St Mark’s Church

Café and clothes bank. Monday - knit and natter and FoodShare; Tuesday - Pool, table tennis, crafts; Wednesday- pool, table tennis and table top games; Thursday – games.

St. George's Church

Community-based Cafe environment Hot drinks, together with soup, sandwiches, cake and fruit.

St. Thomas' Community Connections

Church Lounge environment including settees and comfortable chairs. Welcome team of volunteers Warm or cold drinks Help yourself biscuits / cakes Board games toddler toys newspapers social chat.

Staveley with Ings Together

An opportunity to chat, information about our village and what is going on, friendly people, magazines and games. Tea/coffee and biscuits, Soup and Roll. pudding or tray bake.

The Mardale Inn - Bampton Valley Community Pub

We offer free wifi and hot drinks are available at sensible community prices. On Friday’s we do Senior Lunches available at 20% discount, enabling things like a Small Fish & Chips or Beef & Ale Stew for £8.
