Warm Spots

A Warm Spot offers a warm, welcoming space for people to visit this winter if they need it. They are run by a range of different organisations including churches, village halls, local councils and libraries.

Alston Library (warm spot)

Warm welcome from library staff onsite, browsing and borrowing of library stock, free requests service, free public Wi-Fi, 2 hours free use per day of library PCs, printing, slightly limited space to study or read, storysacks and dementia bags

Alston Town Hall

Teas, coffee, cakes, hot soup with a scone or roll served at 12pm, afternoon entertainment, bingo, live music, quiz, board games, free wifi plus informative talks from guests on things like how to keep your home warm fire safety etc. Everyone welcome.

Ambleside Parish Centre

Anyone in the community can join us for a hot drink and conversation. We usually offer a warm snack option such as soup, beans on toast alongside our usual cakes and scones in the colder months too all for a small optional donation

Connect Café

Providing a simple lunch and activities. Free but welcome donations.

Gateway Church - Neighbourhood Chaplains

Warm drinks, hot water bottles to give people free, blankets, and hats for cold weather. People can chat to our neighbourhood chaplains or get involved in the many activities we have on offer.

Grange Over Sands Community Foodshare

Our strap line is There Will Be Soup, so always something delicious, vegetarian and hot on offer to eat in &/or takeaway. Homemade cake, friendly, listening ear and big smiles!

Kirkby Thore Memorial Hall - Renew Wellbeing Eden

A warm welcome for all. Play board games, join in with craft activities or simply sit and chat. Tea, coffee and cake provided.
Facilities: Accessible Toilets; Charging Facilities; Child Friendly; Food Available; Free Wifi; Hot Drinks; Other Refreshments; Parking.

Manna House (Cumbria)

Community Centre with advisors for benefits and housing issues; computers and phone; showers, clothing, outdoor equipment; referrals to other agencies, including food bank.
Free lunch at 12noon; free coffees and teas throughout the day; often free toast, biscuits, etc

Outside- In Cumbria

We offer a play and warm hot meal for a family at cost prices, £5 per child and adult. We also have some free places available.
