Using gender neutral text
Using gender inclusive language and designs means writing or speaking in a way that does not discriminate against a particular sex or gender role.
Make sure text is gender neutral wherever possible, such as ‘them’, ‘their’ or ‘they’. – don’t use ‘she’ or ‘he’.
If you do need to refer to gender, use ‘women’ and ‘men’ rather than ‘males’ and ‘females’.
Slow down your thinking and ask yourself is this content for everyone?
Examples of making gender text neutral
