Westmorland and Furness Council’s Healthy Homes Team is hosting a free event for local landlords which will give them insights into the Healthy Homes pathfinder project as well as the private rented sector.
The council is inviting private sector landlords to attend its Landlord Forum event taking place at Penrith Rugby Club on Monday 7 October 2024, from 4.45pm to 7.00pm. There will also be an hour following the event to allow for networking and discussion with speakers and exhibitors.
The event will provide information about the council’s Government funded Healthy Homes pilot project which aims to improve privately rented properties within six ward areas of the legacy Eden locality. The forum will also give landlords access to a range of organisations on the day for advice and guidance.
Landlords can look forward to invaluable updates from a panel made up of representatives from the Healthy Homes team, the National Residential Landlords Association, the Department of Work and Pensions, Cumbria Police, Cumbria Action for Sustainability, and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
There will also be networking opportunities and information available from exhibitors including the Home Upgrade Grant and ECO4 Flex Grant teams, as well Westmorland and Furness Council’s Antisocial Behaviour Team, and Cumberland Council’s Private Sector Housing Team.
Councillor Judith Derbyshire, Cabinet Member for Housing and Customer Services, said:
"The Healthy Homes project is a real opportunity for us to engage with our stakeholders, provide them with support and advice and help improve how we deliver our private sector housing function.
“We are really keen to collaborate with our local private landlords. We know that they play a fundamental role in the local housing sector, not just as property providers, but as pivotal contributors to our communities.
"Our hope is that should this pilot be successful, we can implement our learnings and new ways of working across the whole of Westmorland and Furness.
"We hope plenty will be able to join us at the Forum event!”
Admission is free of charge, but pre-booking is mandatory to ensure your place. Register online. Refreshments will be provided.
