A family fun day was held to mark the launch of the Dalton Family Hub with games and activities for children of all ages, as well as informative stands from community partners.

The Dalton Family Hub launched on Friday 16th February at Dalton Community Centre, celebrating a place for families to access advice, useful courses and information on family life.

The Family Hub Team of friendly staff were on hand to chat to throughout the day. Over 100 people attended, with some familiar faces who also attended the main hub launch at Barrow Library in December 2023.

Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said:

“We are delighted that so many people joined us for the launch of the Dalton Hub, whether that be taking part in the games and activities or getting to know the teams that are there to help. We hope local families know that they can come to the hub at Dalton for a range of advice and support.”

Milorad Vasic, Director of Children’s Services, Westmorland and Furness Council said:

“Family Hubs will become important places and spaces where we can work together to make a difference and support children, young people, and families. Westmorland and Furness Council is one of just 13 councils nationwide chosen to receive funding from the Department of Education’s Family Hubs transformation fund.”

The Hubs are for available to families seeking advice and information on topics such as finance, mental health, physical health, wellbeing, early years support and much, much more.

Hubs can be accessed either in person at Dalton and Barrow, or online at the Family Hub website
