PCD7 - £26,421 – £27,334 pro rata for Term Time working (inclusive of 70JWC)
Fixed Term until July 2025 due to uncertainty of school funding 

Due to a period of continued growth, we are looking to recruit enthusiastic, flexible and qualified classroom practitioners to join our growing school team, to work within our secondary setting. We are open to applicants with full or part-time availability and those with experience working with students with additional needs in secondary settings. If you don’t have any relevant experience or have experience in working within early years or primary students but have an interest and a willingness to learn we still want to hear from you!

Sandgate is a special school for children and young people between the ages of 3-19 years, currently on two sites based in Kendal, but with a new build school nearing completion.

Up until the age of 14, students are educated at the Sandylands Road site. Our older students make the transition up to the Sandgate at Queen Katherine school site where they are taught in and around a busy secondary school environment in their own classroom bases.

Our school has a large catchment area and accepts students with severe, profound and complex needs. Our students are diverse in terms of their abilities, interests, strengths and sense of humour and therefore, our staff team have a range of experience. We are motivated to offer training opportunities to support our staff to meet the needs of students while progressing with their career journey. 

Students often need help throughout the day in terms of support in lessons, managing their own needs, help with feeding, dressing and toileting and learning how to communicate and interact appropriately with others. No two days are the same.

Teaching Assistant

Chapel Street Infants and Nursery School are looking to employ a Level 3 Teaching Assistant who is friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Level 2 would be considered if the applicant is willing to undertake Level 3 training. This post will require you to work across both our Pre School and Nursery School classrooms, predominately Pre School, and will commence on Monday 15th April 2024. The start date could be earlier if the applicant does not need to give notice to employer.
Term Time, Full Time, 30 hours per week. However, we will consider applications for part-time hours. 16+

Initially this is a fixed term contract for 1 academic year April 2024 – April 2025 due to pupil numbers, however there is a possibility this could be extended.

The suitable candidate must have:
•    NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or working towards Level 3)
•    GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English

The successful candidate must also be able to:
•    Work constructively as part of a team.
•    Liaise effectively with staff and parents.
•    Promote inclusion of all pupils within the Early Years classrooms
•    Show initiative and hold high expectations for pupils.
•    Display a professional attitude at all times and desire to continue their professional development.
•    Demonstrate their experience of working in the Early Years Foundation Stage
•    Have excellent communication skills.

KS2 Teacher

Required for Summer term 15th April  2024 – 31st  August 2024 (Thursdays/Fridays 0.4 hours) ; potentially extending to the following academic year. This post is due to the school taking over the nursery and the head teacher needing to step back from her teaching role as a job-share.
