How Blue Badges work
You can apply for a Blue Badge for:
- yourself
- on behalf of somebody else
- an organisation that transports people that need a Blue Badge
If you, or a person you are supporting, is suffering from a life limiting illness with a poor prognosis (unlikely to be longer than 6 months), you can apply for a life limited Blue Badge.
What you can do with a Blue Badge
It allows you to park:
- for free in some pay and display car parks (time limits may apply)
- on-street disabled parking bays (time limits may apply)
- on single and double yellow lines in most streets for up to 3 hours
You can find more details on where you can park on the GOV.UK website.
Your responsibilities
If you’re using the Blue Badge as a passenger it is your responsibility to make sure the driver is aware of the regulations.
You could be fined £1000 if you misuse your Blue Badge.
Read more details of your responsibilities as a Blue Badge holder on the GOV.UK website.
Report the misuse of a Blue Badge
If you suspect that a Blue Badge is being misused, you can report misuse of a blue badge.
