Ulverston Victoria High School is a happy and thriving 11-18 school and sixth form and is at the heart of the community in the picturesque South Lakeland market town of Ulverston.

An exceptional school, which is defined equally by its high academic achievements and its warmth and inclusivity, our students and their teachers work hard, seek to achieve the very highest standards in all they do and are respectful of each other and of their community.

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a motivated and inspiring Subject Leader for Food and Nutrition to join our high performing Design and Technology Department. The successful candidate will have the essential ability to lead and teach Food and Nutrition at Key Stages 3 and 4.

We are looking to appoint a practitioner who is passionate about their subject, who has high expectations and who can deliver excellence in the classroom.  We welcome applications from professional and effective ECTs and experienced teachers, who are keen for their career to progress at Ulverston Victoria High School.   A full and appropriate induction programme is available for all ECTs.

Students at KS3 have Food delivered as part of a stimulating DT carousel system. GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition is a popular choice at KS4 with 8 classes currently across Y10 and Year 11. We are a successful subject in school and pride ourselves in being able to achieve excellent outcomes for all abilities. We were delighted to have 21% of the 2023 exam cohort achieve a Grade 9-7. This included excellent results for those students who need further support including those with SEN, EHCP’s, PP etc.

The successful candidate must be committed to obtaining the best possible outcomes for all students by creating a fully inclusive environment. Candidates will show a willingness and desire to contribute to the extensive extra-curricular activities we offer our community and contribute to our whole school ethos.  If you are a candidate committed to high quality teaching and learning who wants to develop your career in an exceptional school, working closely with colleagues who share that passion, then we would be pleased to hear from you.
