Askam Village School is a friendly and welcoming village school where ‘Everybody Matters and Every Moment Counts’.  
There are currently 178 children on roll from Nursery to Year 6.

We currently have three vacancies for dedicated Senior Teaching Assistants to join our lovely school to start after the Easter holidays. The vacancies are to primarily support children with EHCPs.

Post 1 – 27.5 hours Nursery (Permanent)
The successful applicant will work alongside experienced Early Years staff.
The successful applicant will be supported by the class teacher and SENCo.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 9am-3.00pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

STA (27.5hours) 
PCD7 - Annual Full Time Salary £27,711 to £28,624 (£17,644 pro rata) £14.36 per hour

Post 2 – 30 hours (Permanent)
The successful applicant will work to support a pupil with an EHCP in Key Stage 2. Hours of working will be Monday to Friday 9am-3.30pm with 30 minutes for lunch.  
STA (30 hours) 
PCD7 - Annual Full Time Salary £27,711 to £28,624 (£19,248 pro rata) £14.36 per hour

Post 3 – 30 hours (Permanent)
The successful applicant will work to support a pupil with an EHCP in Key Stage 1. Hours of working will be Monday to Friday 9am-3.30pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

Our team of experienced staff deliver a rich, broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to raise attainment through carefully planned programmes of work matched to individual needs. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated teaching assistants, who will contribute to our creative and excellent quality learning experiences.

The successful candidate will:
Responsibilities
-    Provide support (both 1:1 and small group) for children with SEND
-    Assist the classteacher in planning and delivering lessons to cater for the needs of the children
-    Work in collaboration with classteachers, other staff, SENCO, other external professionals and parents/carers
-    Monitor and track progress and achievement of children, providing regular feedback to classteacher, SENCO and parents
-    Maintain accurate records in line with school policies and procedures

Requirements

- Have previous experience of working 1-1 and supporting small groups
  -  Have a good knowledge of the Early Years/ Key Stage 1/ Key Stage 2 curriculum (depending on the post being applied for)
  -  Have experience of working with pupils with additional needs.
  -  Hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
   - Have high expectations and demonstrate a commitment to raising standards and achieving the best for all of our children.
   - Be an excellent communicator, flexible and enthusiastic
   - Be a committed team member but also able to work with independence when required and willing to become involved in the wider life of the school 
    -Work with other agencies to support pupils
   - Willingness to engage in professional development

About the roles

These are strategic leadership and management roles, overseeing the shaping and delivery of ‘Team Barrow’ workstreams. Five separate workstreams have been identified to drive forward initiatives and report to the Barrow Delivery Board (Economy, Masterplanning & Place; Transport; Education, Employment & Skills; Health, Equity & Wellbeing; and Community & Social Impact).

We’re looking for individuals with experience leading in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Economy, Masterplanning and Place
  • Transport

Working with Team Barrow colleagues, internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will develop business cases and strategies to shape how projects will be delivered within a workstream theme, in line with the vision and objectives of the Delivery Board. This will be influenced through highly effective engagement with fellow workstreams, existing and new partners, including those from the private, public and voluntary sector and will involve complex and particularly difficult challenges to be overcome with relevant stakeholders to seek full support of project outcomes and enable successful delivery.

A key element of the roles will be to provide strategic management and technical expertise to ensure projects are delivered effectively and remain innovative and efficient.

Who we are looking for

To fulfil these roles, we are looking for candidates who can lead, manage and motivate others to deliver projects whilst acting as role models, embodying our Team Barrow Charter of partnership working as well as the council’s corporate values and behaviours. Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate a positive attitude, act with honesty and respect for others, have excellent interpersonal skills, political awareness, and experience of operating in a politically sensitive environment.

  • A successful track record in developing effective working alliances together with a proven ability to network.
  • Experience developing external partnerships, with other organisations and stakeholders, to deliver key strategies and programmes.
  • Experience of customer engagement and advocacy in continually improving services.
  • Experience of working in a dynamic and complex environment, handling multiple projects, developments, and other business as usual tasks.

The ETC seek a 9 month old room lead with initiative and a caring, positive and flexible child centred approach. The post will involve working closely in a team, supporting the Head teachers/ Nursery manager to lead and motivate staff as well as providing individual care for pupils with a range of needs. The role will involve managing the 9 month old room and leading on EYFS Curriculum provision and planning as well as working alongside staff across our whole nursery school site, with children from 9 months to 4 years old.  The candidate will also have a good knowledge of SEND.
