Head teacher

Due to the retirement of our well regarded and much loved Head teacher at the end of the current academic year, the Governing Body are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational Head teacher to lead our VA Church School from September 2024.

St Paul’s CE Junior School has been described as “a small school with a big heart.” It is situated on the outskirts of Barrow in Furness, close to the Lake District, and is the oldest school in the town dating from 1843. St Paul’s enjoys close relationships with the local community and Church and is held in high regard. The school aims to promote a caring and Christian ethos and a friendly and supportive environment where all children are encouraged to fulfil their potential and develop spiritually, mentally and morally.

Our recent Ofsted inspection (May 2023) stated:
“Pupils enjoy coming to school and show a clear sense of pride at being part of the St Paul’s school family. Warm relationships between staff and pupils are quickly established, making pupils feel safe and happy. These positive relationships are underpinned by the school’s clear Christian values.”

We need a Head teacher who:
•Has strong leadership, management and communication skills
•Is committed to the achievement of the highest educational and behavioural standards
•Will take the lead in maintaining and growing the Christian ethos which is set at the heart of our teaching
•Will work effectively with staff and governors
•Is committed to maintaining and developing our creative and extended curriculum
•Continue to promote the school in the local community as a place where children thrive and succeed and are well placed for the next stage of their education

We can offer:
•Pupils who are positive about learning, well behaved and always try their best
•A dedicated and committed staff team
•Good links with our local church and community
•Parents and carers who are very supportive
•Governors who are approachable and involved in school life
