Teaching Assistant (SEN)

The post is temporary (see below*) for approx. 32.5 hours per week – required for a September 2024 start.

We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic teaching assistant who can join our dedicated school team. Our ethos puts the child firmly at the centre of everything we do and the decisions we make.

Prior experience of supporting pupils with special educational needs is essential. Equally important to this role is enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to use own initiative. Primarily, the role will involve supporting children with Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP) in Reception but at times working in other areas of the school.

Believing and understanding that every child is unique and having high expectations of all children, is absolutely vital for this role.

The successful person will need to be able to adapt, and prepare teaching resources (under the direction of the class teacher and/or SENCO) to meet the needs of the child and teach the next steps through engaging teaching and learning activities.

The successful candidate will work as part of Early Years team and will be supported by our experienced and dedicated staff. They should be able to show initiative and versatility in responding to pupils’ individual needs in a calm and positive manner. A relevant Level 2 qualification is essential.

*Post is temporary and the hours and timetables are reviewed termly as the position is EHCP funded. Initially for one year (up to 31st August 2025, due to Budget restrictions) with a possibility to extend.

Brunswick School can offer:

• Friendly, happy and confident children

• An opportunity to join our unique team of people who love what they do and the community that we serve

• An extremely supportive Governing Body that strive to build on our successes and provide the very best learning environment, opportunities and experiences for our children

We believe strongly that the child should be at the centre of the decisions we make and so we work closely with families in our diverse school community to build positive relationships and provide a safe, caring and rich learning environment. Through our caring, nurturing environment we are able to provide excellent learning opportunities and experiences whilst maintaining the highest aspirations for every child to succeed.

If you share our vision, values and aspirations and would like to know more about the role or for an application pack please email our Business Lead Jane Jay or Elaine Scott-Collins (term time) at admin@brunswick.cumbria.sch.uk or telephone the office on 01768 213200 or on our website: www.brunswick.cumbria.sch.uk under vacancies
