Newton Village Academy is part of the Furness Education Trust, a multi-academy trust based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria. Newton Village Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and conscientious Senior Teaching Assistant with primary school experience. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated and hardworking staff team.

•    Have previous experience of working 1-1 and lead small groups with targeted learning tasks. 
•    Have a good knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum  
•    Hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

•    Be an excellent communicator.
•    Be a committed team member but also able to work with independence when required.

Teaching Assistant

Due to increasing numbers, the Governors are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic, experienced and conscientious Teaching Assistants with primary school experience to start on Monday 4th November.  These will initially be on a fixed term contract, with a view to becoming permanent dependent on numbers.  The successful candidates will initially work in our Ladybirds Unit, working alongside others to provide care and support for children with Education Health and Care Plans.  Experience of supporting children with autism, developmental delay or speech and language challenges would be an advantage.  They may also be required to work across school from Nursery to Year 2.

Site Manager / Caretaker

The Governors of this friendly, successful, one form entry, Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and committed Site Manager/Caretaker who can make a significant contribution to the school.

The main focus of the role is to undertake repair & maintenance, security of the building, health & safety, fire safety and statutory compliance. Other duties include undertaking safety audits and risk assessments and ensuring regular health and safety checks are completed e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting and legionella testing. 

We are looking for someone who:
•    Has a positive attitude and can build excellent relationships with colleagues and the whole school community
•    Has a sound awareness of health and safety issues 
•    Can manage the planned maintenance programme and oversee the delivery of statutory compliance tasks
•    Can maintain accurate and up to date records
•    Can carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs
•    Can spot opportunities to improve efficiencies and working practices and take appropriate action.
