We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of English who is able to lead others within the English faculty in our continued drive for excellence. This post also carries a whole school responsibility for the continued development of literacy across the curriculum, for which additional time is delegated. An ability to teach drama is desirable but should not deter candidates from applying if they cannot offer this subject. 

We are seeking someone who has a proven track record of success, high aspirations, enthusiasm, passion and drive to support us to continue to move forward in the pursuit of excellence within an embedded culture of care and support. 

The English faculty consists of the full time faculty leader and two other full time English specialist teachers. 

The faculty uses an inhouse curriculum at Key Stage 3 and offers Edexcel English Language, English Literature and drama at Key Stage 4. All classes are taught in mixed ability groupings. 

This is a key role in our school and the successful candidate will be expected to become an integral member of the staff team and will be expected to demonstrate full commitment to the students, school and its community.

Our school is in the southern fringe of the Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in the village of Broughton-in-Furness. We currently have 1   29 children and provide education from nursery to year 6. We completed building a new nursery unit extension to the school at Easter 2024 opened by our local Member of Parliament. 

The school has grown significantly in pupil numbers in recent years . Christian Head provides a safe, caring and home-from-home environment for up to 28 residents with complex health care needs. Situated close to all facilities in the market town of Kirkby Stephen, we offer respite and residential care for those who are elderly, frail or have dementia.

Working within our Residential Care Service will typically involve working shifts which usually cover between 7am until 10pm (days) or 9.30pm – 7.30am (nights), over 7 days, 365 day a year – this will include alternate weekends (as part of a set rota) and Bank Holidays.
