About this opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Social Worker to support the Complex Safeguarding Team working across Westmorland and Furness.

As the Complex Safeguarding Social Worker you will support the Team Manager to provide leadership, direction, advice and guidance to the Child Exploitation workers.

You will lead on the coordination of missing children and young people in Westmorland and Furness, chairing Stage 1 Missing Meetings and leading on the development of safety plans for some of our most vulnerable children. You will chair Child Exploitation Risk Assessments meetings and will deputise in the absence of the Team Manager. You will be involved in the delivery of training to partner agencies around Child Exploitation and Missing and contribute to the development of our response to children who both at risk of exploitation and missing in Westmorland and Furness. This role also co-ordinates a caseload of more complex cases.

You will work with children, families and communities to better understand how we can support them, prevent child exploitation in our communities, equip them with the knowledge about how to identify and report exploitation and know what services there are to meet their needs.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has extensive working knowledge and experience of supporting children at risk of exploitation, early intervention programmes and supporting colleagues in this area of work. You must also have experience of partnership and multi-agency working. You will also work alongside the Social Work teams and a wide range of partner organisations to ensure effective joint working.

You must have a social work qualification with at least 3 years post qualifying experience.

DBS

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an Enhanced DBS Check with a Children’s and Adults Barred List check.

This role involves working in regulated activity with Adults and Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with Adults and Children.
