About this opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Carlisle Adult Learning team. We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to play a key role in the delivery of health and wellbeing provision to those living within Carlisle and the wider community. Specifically, we are looking to recruit a ‘Hill Skills’ tutor, who will be tasked with delivering hill skills and navigation workshops and one-day excursions on local fells. We are seeing increased demand for this type of provision and therefore are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to continue this trend. It would also be advantageous to have additional health and wellbeing experience, such as health and safety, first aid or expertise in environmental sustainability, to further broaden our offer. A relevant qualification and / or relevant experience in the subject specialism being taught is also essential. The successful candidate will be experienced, highly motivated, enthusiastic, confident and able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.

We offer an extensive range of subjects to the communities of Carlisle, and the right candidate will offer interesting and engaging courses to support the growth of the Service. Teaching hours will be varied and are dependent on demand; however, it is likely there will be a need to be available for classes during the day and evening hours, including occasional work on Saturdays.

Adult Learning, rated Good by Ofsted, delivers community learning and skills provision both face to face and online. Our Service is focussed on provision which transforms the lives of our most disadvantaged communities, enhancing employment opportunities and promoting health and wellbeing.
