About this opportunity
We are looking for an innovative and creative individual with the skills, knowledge and experience to lead the development, coordination and delivery of the Thriving Communities Directorate (which includes Public Health, Safe and Strong Communities, Community Infrastructure and Housing). The post holder will work closely with the Directorate Management Team and the Extended Directorate Leadership Team, acting as a strategic link to enable effective collaborative working, integration, strategic planning and continuous improvement.
This is a high-profile role and will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside a range of services within the Resources Directorate and the Council; with opportunities to engage with other agencies and key stakeholder groups.
You will have excellent organisation and planning skills and an understanding of governance and democratic processes – you will be solution focused and have experience of change management.
We are looking for candidates who can:
- Drive Strategic Excellence: Lead the planning, development, and delivery of strategic initiatives, managing the directorate business and corporate governance systems for the Directorate by fostering efficient business systems while ensuring seamless operations.
- Facilitate Effective Collaboration: Accountable for ensuring effective collaboration by facilitating key directorate business meetings through proactive scheduling, analysis, and stakeholder engagement to optimise operations both internally and externally.
- Ensure Compliance and Impact: To ensure the directorate's compliance with corporate strategic planning, governance processes, and reporting deadlines, while supporting the Director and Assistant Directors. Assist in managing the council’s scheme of delegation, annual governance statements, and other key requirements to ensure full compliance.
- Drive Corporate Priorities: Play a pivotal role in delivering both Directorate and Council corporate priorities, coordinating input, and aligning strategies as needed.
- Enhance Business Processes: Develop and refine Directorate's business processes, ensuring they align with customer and corporate needs, incorporating elements like monitoring, audits, risk management, and performance evaluations.
- Lead Innovation: Take the reins on projects and research initiatives, spearheading recommendations for best practices within the Directorate.
