Temporary Part Time (0.4) KS2 ClassTeacher Fixed term due to fluctuating numbers.

The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and caring teacher to take responsibility for teaching a KS2 Class (Thursday and Fridays), and to take a full part in the life of this thriving school. 

The school is noted for good relationships and its friendly atmosphere where a sense of humour is appreciated! The school has received a Good Ofsted inspection report in 2022.  Importantly they have commented on high quality work from the children, encouraged by high teacher expectation and appropriate teacher support. This role will involve:

  • Investigating consumer complaints.
  • Responding to requests for advice from local businesses.
  • Conducting risked based programmed and reactive inspections, sampling and testing across all trading standards disciplines.
  • Acting as a subject lead and maintaining a high level of knowledge in your specialist fields, guiding other officers, and keeping up to date with legislative changes, as well as monitoring developments, opportunities, and threats in the field.
  • Delivering intelligence-led projects.

 

The right candidate will have:

  • Diploma in Trading Standards, or Diploma in Consumer Affairs including Animal Health module, DCATS with 60 points (to include food and metrology) or Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma (Food Standards unit as desirable) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Trading Standards and/or Animal Health, and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Proven experience and competence to undertake and lead complex investigations into criminal offences or unfair trading practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a variety of different audiences.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.

The role also involves transporting the school lunches from Appleby Primary School to Asby Endowed School each day as well as serving the lunches. Mileage / transport costs will be covered by the school (45p per mile). 

Job description: 

•    To collect the lunches and returning serving trays to and from Appleby Primary.

•    To serve meals ensuring correct portion control.

•    To clean the kitchen, its surrounds and equipment.

•    To undertake general kitchen duties e.g. washing up, wiping tables.

•    To ensure food hygiene and health and safety regulations are adhered to, at all times.

•    To participate in training and development.

•    To supervise students during lunch breaks, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. 

•    To organise and lead a variety of play activities and games, encouraging inclusive and active participation.

•    To foster a positive and respectful environment, managing behaviour in accordance with school policies. 

The successful candidate will:

•    Be happy and proactive in engaging children in play.

•    Be able to work as part of a team.

•    Be able to work with a variety of age groups.

To be a success in our Legal Team you will have experience as a Property Lawyer and have a good working knowledge in:

About this opportunity

Are you looking for an operational management role that is rewarding and really making a difference for our children, young people, and vulnerable adults? We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated supervisor to be responsible for the front-line operations for Childrens Transport Operations Team (CTOT), Westmorland and Furness Council’s in-house operator of home to school and adult social care transport from our Barrow sites.

 

The successful candidate will be managing a team of D1 minibus drivers and passenger assistants.  Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a full vocational Category D Licence or be willing to work towards obtaining this licence as an immediate priority on starting the role. They will also be willing to undertake training for the Transport Manager CPC.

 

You should have proven experienced in managing people, preferably in the sector, be self-motivated, an independent thinker, confident in your own decision making and able to work flexibly around an operational day. As well as the supervision of your direct reportees and ensuring compliance of all operational aspects you will also work closely with other area supervisors in Westmorland & Furness Council to ensure continuity of service delivery and to develop and grow the service area.

 

There is a requirement to be on an out of hours rota with the other CTOT Area Supervisors, 1 weekend in 3 to ensure routes are covered where there is staff absence, and you may, on occasion, be required to act as resilience and cover routes yourself either as a driver or passenger assistant.

 

The postholder will report directly to the Business Partner CTOT Operations, who is also the named Transport Manager on the PSV O License and also be able to support the operational and logistical work of the wider Integrated Home to School Transport Service.

A knowledge of the geography of Westmorland and Furness is advantageous.

 

Candidates who are successful through the interview process will also be required to take a minibus/coach driving assessment to be held on the same day of interview.

Permanent Role with effect from 1st September 2024

PCD8i/PCD8ii (Scale Point 19-20).

Full Time Salary £29,777 - £30,296, Hourly rate £15.43 - £15.70.

Pro rata salary equates to £25,470 - £25,915 per annum.

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, Term Time only, including Inset Days.

Working hours Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 pm (4.00 pm finish on a Friday).

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and skilled individual, to support the pastoral and senior leadership teams in raising standards within the school, developing a curriculum which is appropriate to the needs of young people and ensuring that our students also have opportunities and experiences to fulfil their spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs. The post holder will have significant experience of pastoral care and experience of working with children and professional organisations.
